Our founder, Steve Deans, has been in the tyre trade since the day he left school. It’s all he’s ever known – but more importantly, it’s where he discovered what truly matters: people.

For most of Steve’s career, the business he worked for took a people-first approach. But once they became corporate, the direction and focus shifted, and Steve noticed something was missing. Genuine customer service and looking after the team had taken a back seat.

Believing there had to be a better way, Steve set out to build his own tyre business – one that aligned with his values.

From the very beginning, the goal was simple: deliver honest, friendly service, keep people safe on the road, and give back to the community.

With just one employee and a workshop in the heart of Palmerston North, Steve’s Tyre Service was born.

Thanks to the loyalty of the Manawatū community, we’ve grown steadily over the years.

Today, we’re known as Steve’s Tyre Service & Auto Care. We’re your one-stop shop for tyres, mechanical servicing, car grooming, and suspension work in Palmerston North.

And we’ve expanded into Horowhenua. Our Levin store now proudly serves the community with tyres and mechanical repairs.

From a two-person operation, we’ve grown a dedicated team of 28. But our philosophy hasn’t changed: Every customer, every vehicle matters.
